A goal of the Cass Expeditionary Society is to prompt leadership development facilitated by stretch experiences. CassXPS Is organising a Leadership Expedition to Point Lenana, Mount Kenya.

Point Lenana is a trekking peak at just under 5000 metres. It's one of the three summits of volcanic Mount Kenya which is the less climbed, smaller brother of Mount Kilimanjaro. Many people who have climbed Mount Kenya, prefer its wilderness, abundant wildlife and stunning mountain lakes.

The Expedition begins on the 30th June, departing from Nairobi for a transfer to Naro Moru (about 3 to 4 hours by road) and a night in the Blue Line hotel. This is not a 5 star accommodation but a safe, quiet environment with clean rooms and a friendly atmosphere.

From Monday 1st to Friday 5th July, we will be on the mountain, trekking, acclimatising to the altitude to avoid altitude sickness, camping or staying overnight in mountain huts. The Expedition is portered for tents/ cooking materials etc but you will need to carry your own kit in a rucksack.

After a couple of days we will attempt the summit of Point Lenana at sunrise and then descend by the Chogoria route, considered to have the most spectacular landscape and geological features of cliffs cirques and lakes and then camping at Lake Ellis or Nithi Falls.

The draft itinerary suggests we will be back in Nairobi night of Friday 5th July but this cannot be guaranteed. Do not book return flights from Kenya until Saturday 6th July.

During an XPS Leadership Expedition, we work in teams with a "Leader of the Day" drawn from the group. Each evening there will be a debrief of leadership and team behaviours with peers offering constructive and specific feedback to prompt development and opportunities for personal growth.

The Expedition fee is £920 - including transfers to and from Nairobi, the hotel on 30th, meals on the Expedition, porters, national park fees, trained mountain guides and accommodation in huts/camps. It does not include international air transfers (and you may wish to consider travel insurance).

Places are limited. Please register your interest asap.
