Dear Participants,

We want to update you on the situation regarding the 18th IACG Conference in these most difficult times caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

It seems that we cannot quickly return to our usual way of working in the near future and joining a physical gathering in September will not be comfortable or appropriate. As a result, we have decided to  postpone  our IACG Conference until April 2021, when we will gather at Cass Business School in London (UK). We are grateful to the Cass Business School for its support in enabling this to happen.

Nonetheless, we do not want to completely remove the opportunity for our community to engage this September. Therefore, we have found an alternative way!

In order to support you with the publication of your manuscript to an academic journal, we have organised an informal one-to-one feedback session between 9th and 11th September. Your manuscript will be assigned to two academics of the scientific committee that will help you to refine the manuscript for the academic journal submission. In the meantime, we want to ensure that you also have the possibility to attend next year IACG conference. Therefore, we will offer you two options:

  • Either  have your paper included in our informal feedback session

  • Or  hold your paper for the 2021 IACG conference.

These are the steps to follow:

  1. By Friday 26th  June, please reply to this email including Rob  and  Alessandro and specify whether you would like to attend the informal feedback session in September 2020 or hold your paper for next year conference.

  2. a) If you have opted to participate to the next year conference, you do not have to do anything at this stage apart from communicating your decision to Rob and Alessandro as per Step 1. We will get in touch next year with the 2021 conference details

b) If you have opted to participate in the informal feedback session, you have to submit the final WORD version  of the paper and the form -we have already emailed - to Rob and Alessandro by  24th July. It is really important that you fill in the form as this will help the reviewers to understand how they can support you better.

  1. Between the 24th July and 9th September, the two reviewers will read and comment on your manuscript in order to provide feedback during the informal session between 9th and 11th September.

  2. Between the 9th and 11th September, you will virtually meet the two reviewers to discuss your manuscripts.

FAQs

  1. How does the informal feedback session work? - During the online feedback session, the two reviewers will go through the manuscript with the comments and suggestions with the aim to bring the manuscript as close to journal submission as possible. It works like as a Q&A process.

  1. How long does the informal feedback session last? - The informal feedback session will last depending on the two reviewers and the comments you both have. It may last 30 minutes or 60 minutes, for example.

  1. How many people will attend the informal feedback session? - The online feedback session is meant to be for the authors only; and it works on a 2-2-1 basis, i.e. 2 reviewers + author(s)

  1. Can my co-author attend the informal feedback session? - Yes, the co-author is advised and encouraged to attend and participate in the informal feedback session.

  1. Can I participate in other informal feedback sessions?- No, the informal feedback sessions are tailored for the author or co-authors. However, with the consent of both authors and the reviewers, you may be able to join the informal session.

  1. Do I have to send the paper and the form?- Yes, it is compulsory to send the final version of the paper and the form by 24th July to be included in the online feedback session.

  1. Will a plenary session be held?- No plenary sessions are scheduled this year as we have organised this new format, i.e. the online informal feedback session.

  1. Who are the reviewers? - The reviewers are the members of the scientific committee. We will forward your manuscript and the form to them after 24th July while copying you in the email.

  1. Which e-platforms do we use for the informal session? - The two reviewers, who comment your manuscript, will get in touch with you in due course with the online platform to use, e.g. Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet, etc

  1. Can I choose the two reviewers? - No, the two reviewers will be assigned to your manuscript based on their area of interest and expertise.

  1. My paper has been accepted for the 2020 IACG Conference, do I have to participate in the informal feedback session?- No, you do not have to. You can hold your paper for the 2021 IACG Conference as long as you communicate your decision to Rob and Alessandro by 26th June.

  1. How much is the informal feedback session?- The participation is free of charge.

  1. My reviewers did not get back to me with the details of when and how the informal feedback session is held?- Please email Rob and Alessandro with your concerns, and we will endeavour to sort the situation out.

  1. Do I have to include the two reviewers in the co-authorship?- No! The aim of the reviewers is not by any all means to be part of the co-authorship but to increase the likelihood that your paper is accepted for publication. The reviewers will provide friendly feedback and not require to be in the co-authorship.

  1. Can I have the comments of the reviewers before the online session? - Please ask the reviewers if they are happy to share the comments before the meeting; the thrust is to have a peer conversation of your paper.

  1. Can my paper be part of both the online session 2020 and the conference in 2021? - No, by Friday 29th  you will have to communicate whether you wish to participate  either  in the online session in September 2020  or  to the Conference in 2021.
