Each Talk consists of four parts:
Presentation – by a leading figure in the sector of a current key issue facing people in nonprofit organisations.
Response – from a top academic or consultant broadening out the topic to develop the issues and offering guidance for action.
Discussion – an opportunity for the audience to question, debate and share their ideas.
Buffet reception – a chance to meet and talk with the speakers and colleagues from other similar organisations.
Charity Turnarounds – changing ahead of the curve
Wed 19 July 2017 at 6 for 6.30pm
Julie Bentley, Chief Executive of Girlguiding
Caroline Copeman, Principal Consultant, Centre for Charity Effectiveness, Cass Business School, City, University of London
Charity turnarounds are usually attempted after things have gone too far, the organisation is in dire straits and the cure can be terminal. How do you judge when and how to persuade a charity that it must change before it realises it needs to, i.e. “ahead of the curve” to use a concept promoted by Charles Handy? Julie Bentley has led a change programme at Girlguiding and she will explain how, whilst Caroline Copeman will give more generalised advice on the do’s and don’ts of change programmes
