Andrew Smith

Andrew is an internationally renowned actuary specialises in the application of advanced mathematical and statistical methods. He currently teaches at University College Dublin, where he has been since 2017.

Andrew has served as a volunteer tutor for the Society of Actuaries’ asset and liability management course (which Andrew co-led in London, Brussels, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Chicago and Prague). He has presented technical workshops for many European actuarial associations, and has taught longer courses in Albania, Armenia and Ghana to prepare students for the Institute of Actuaries’ examinations. Andrew acts as a scrutineer for the British Actuarial Journal, the Annals of Actuarial Science and the Astin Bulletin. He sits on the editorial advisory panel for The Actuary magazine.

Andrew shares his name with thousands of other men in the UK and abroad. He distinguishes himself from his namesakes by sporting colourful bow-ties.
