Do you want to be better at managing contradictions at work?
Join us for breakfast on 14th February 2018 to learn about: Paradoxical Leadership – Managing Contradictions with rofessor Paula Jarzabkowski, Associate Dean of Research & Enterprise, Cass Business School and Prof Marianne Lewis, Dean, Cass Business School

Hosted by Cass Business School in conjunction with the Worshipful Company of Insurers, this interactive iWIN Forum session is open to anyone interested in managing contradictions at work. Organisations are full of contradictions. They have to invest in radical new products without cannibalising existing products; balance short and long-term goals; be locally connected and have global reach. Managers can become caught up in these contradictions as “either/or” challenges, prioritising one goal and sacrificing the other. Both are important and effective managers need to balance both.

In this session, we will introduce you to paradoxical leadership and how to develop “both/and” responses to contradictions. We will explain some common workplace paradoxes, discuss typical responses to paradoxes, and provide techniques for developing your own capabilities in paradoxical leadership.

Learning Objectives:

Learn about the latest research in this field
Leave with a more in depth understanding of how to manage paradoxes
Appreciate the options available for managing contradictory situations
Gain techniques for developing your own strategy in managing contradictions
Interact with peers and colleagues in discussion of this topic
