BREAKING THE WAVES: CO-DESIGNING EMBODIED NARRATIVE TEMPORALITIES

Time and temporality are increasingly central to Management and Organization Studies (MOS) research. In this article, we explore the possibility of new narratives and temporalities for MOS research practices, and consider how they could change our view of political and social impacts of research. Our conceptualization relies on the concept of narrative temporality offered by Cunliffe, Luhman and Boje (2004) and the incorporation of what we call Embodied Narrative Temporalities (ENT). A naturally occurring experiment in learning illustrates how, documented by an auto-ethnography, new research practices can articulate waves in MOS scientific narrations. The work of Merleau-Ponty and Ricoeur are central to this experimentation, its extensions and possible systematizations in new research practices. Four narrations (desired, intimate, reversible and nostalgic) are offered to researchers interested in co-designing new research practices likely to break the waves.
